FUBU-CAPITOL: A Large-Scale Twitter Dataset on the U.S. Capitol Attack and Stop the Steal Discourse (2020-2023)

Published in SocArXiv (preprint), 2026

This preprint introduces FUBU-CAPITOL, a research corpus for studying election denial, Stop the Steal mobilization, and discourse surrounding the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The source corpus contains 69.42 million Twitter statuses from 6.65 million users, collected between December 2020 and April 2023, alongside social-network relationships and annotations covering sentiment, misinformation stance, toxicity, ideology, and mobilization.

The public release is textless and de-identified: it retains status relationships, annotations, and coarse temporal information without redistributing tweet text, original user or post identifiers, or exact timestamps. Access to raw data for collaborative research is subject to ethical and legal safeguards. The authors conducted this work independently in their personal capacity.
